The first half of 2022 is marked by intense activity on the job market. The lifting of anti-Covid 19 restrictions, the inclination of Romanian employees to search for new job opportunities, digitalization, remote and hybrid work options all generated an increase in employment opportunities and in candidate activity.
The job offer on BestJobs reached record levels, with an average of 40,000 jobs activated per month and a peak of 42,000 job offers registered in May.
According to INSSE, in the first quarter of 2022, the employment rate of the working age population (22-64 years) was 62.4%, rising compared to the previous quarter by 0.3 percentage points.
The job market is in an extremely dynamic moment, but the high demand for products and services after the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, the conflict in Ukraine, and the global disruption of supply chains have led to an accelerated rise in inflation, jumping the threshold of 15% at the end of June, according to the National Institute of Statistics.
Thus, if at the beginning of the year 67% of Romanian employees planned to change their job in 2022, economic concerns make candidates more cautious when changing their job, taking into account two criteria: a salary package to cover the level of inflation and job security.
