About your work

As a Waste Management & Cleaning Coordinator you will coordinate all the activities and actions required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal. This includes amongst other things collection, transport, treatment, and disposal of waste together with monitoring and regulation. It also encompasses the legal and regulatory framework that relates to waste management and recycling goals. You will also be ensuring all cleaning standards are met daily and any deficiencies are addressed immediately.

Your knowledge, skills and experience include:

• An interest in, and understanding of, the environment and sustainability issues.
• Diploma of higher education.
• Certificate for “Responsabil de mediu” and “Specialist in managementul deseurilor”.  
• Experience in coordinating environmental projects and teams.
• Knowledge in professional cleaning for commercial buildings.
• Ability to grasp complex and dynamic legislation.
• Capacity to explain, apply and monitor such legislation.  
• Good leadership, organizational, administrative skills.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, in Romanian and English.
• Availability for working in night shift, weekends, and holidays.

Your tasks will include:

• Applying procedures and complying with IKEA standards for waste management, identifying different wastes generated from commercial activity.
• Delivering site-based facility management services to ensure a sustainable, safe, clean, and functional environment for customers.
• Coordinating waste management and cleaning services, aiming to deliver assigned KPIs. Improving and reporting results for waste management and cleaning services.
• Aiming to exceed waste reduction and recycling targets.
• Ensuring that all aspects of the building and grounds (facilities, building structures, assets, and systems) are maintained within agreed budgeted costs and timeframes.
• Encouraging open, constructive, honest two-way feedback within the team. Monitoring and evaluating teams’ daily activity.
• Coordinating and creating documents needed for waste transportation.
• Understanding the impact of cleaning and waste management on the financial results of Facility Management and knowing the impact of our results.
• Auditing waste management process, to identify and implement ways of reducing the waste and increasing quantity of recyclables.
• As single point of contact is assisting external service providers as required to enable them to perform their contracted services and providing feedback to Site Facility Manager on supplier issues.
• Monitoring the quality and performance of cleaning and waste management services, including contract management of external providers.
• Actively promoting the IKEA social and environmental commitment, and working with colleagues to understand how, together, we can contribute to sustainability.
• Developing and following a defined cleaning and waste management program so that all employees are aware of all tasks and guidelines to ensure the cleanliness of the Store, working with contractors to ensure the contractual obligations are met.
• Facilitating collaboration with specialized laboratories, for analysis requested by official institutions and specific permits and authorizations.
• Reporting and providing information to official institutions, collaborating with Environment Protection Agency, respecting local legislation.
