We are looking for a Health & Safety Specialist to join our growing team in Romania and support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our Health & Safety framework across stores and office locations.

This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who combines solid technical H&S knowledge with a practical, people-oriented mindset and enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment.

As a Health & Safety Specialist, you will report to the Country HR Manager and you will be responsible to consolidate the country H&S function in ensuring compliance with local legislation, internal standards and best practices, while actively contributing to a safe, healthy and well-organised working environment.

You will work closely with HR, Store Operations, International H&S team and external partners to ensure prevention, compliance and continuous improvement across all locations.

Key responsibilities:

Health & Safety governance & compliance

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the local Health & Safety management system in line with Romanian legislation and internal company standards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Romanian H&S legislation.
• Monitor legislative changes and translate legal requirements into practical actions for the business.
• Support internal and external audits, inspections and controls carried out by authorities (ITM, ISU, DSP, etc.).

Risk prevention & workplace safety

• Participate in the preparation, update and monitoring of: risk assessments, prevention and protection plans, emergency and evacuation procedures etc.
• Support the identification, analysis and mitigation of workplace risks (operational, ergonomic, psychosocial, etc.).
• Contribute to the development and implementation of corrective and preventive action plans.

Accidents, incidents & reporting

• Register, investigate and analyse work accidents and near misses.
• Prepare documentation and reports for competent authorities, when required.
• Propose corrective and preventive measures to reduce incidents and improve safety culture.

Training & awareness

• Support the organisation and delivery of mandatory H&S trainings (introductory, periodic, specific).
• Ensure proper documentation and tracking of training records.
• Actively contribute to raising awareness on health, safety and wellbeing topics across the organisation.

Collaboration & communication

• Work closely with HR, store operations, international teams and external service providers.
• Support managers and employees with practical advice on H&S topics.
• Contribute to a proactive safety culture based on ownership, simplicity and accountability.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor degree, preferably in a technical field.
• Certified SSM Inspector / SSM Specialist (minimum 80-hour course).
• Proven knowledge of Romanian occupational health & safety legislation.
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in Health & Safety, preferably in retail, logistics or multi-site environments.
• Experience working with risk assessments, accident investigations and preventive measures.
• English level minimum B2.
• Nice to have - post graduate degree (180 hours course in H&S).
