Who are we?
The British Embassy in Bucharest is part of the United Kingdom’s world-wide diplomatic network, and represents British political, economic and consular interests in Romania.
The successful candidate's main role will be to provide support for the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) team, mainly on logistics support for upcoming events, market research, translations, drafting text and updating various data bases. They will also have the chance to participate in Embassy-wide activities, collaborate with other departments, and will have access to training and learning opportunities provided by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in an exciting international environment, take part in various events organized by the team, and see how an Embassy runs on a daily basis.

Other benefits and conditions of employment
This is a fixed-term internship contract for 12 months. Working hours (35 hours net per week) are as follows: Monday to Thursday 08:30 – 17:00; Friday 8:30 – 13:30 or 11.00 – 16.00. Working hours may be flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked, based on line manager approval.
The annual leave entitlement is 25 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Romanian / UK public holidays per year.
The monthly allowance is 4050 RON gross (salary is not negotiable). In addition, staff also receive a monthly subscription to a medical centre.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance, and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of 30 working days.
All applicants should have a pre-existing legal status to live and work in Romania. The British Embassy does not facilitate/sponsor visa applications and work permits. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to terms and conditions service according to Romanian employment law.

Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Romania and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
