Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
The British Embassy in Bucharest is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking to recruit a Trade Development Adviser for the Department for International Trade (DIT) Bucharest Team.
DIT is the UK Government organisation that helps UK-based companies to succeed in Romania and other international markets. DIT also assists overseas companies to bring high-quality investment to the UK’s economy.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist UK companies to successfully access the Romanian market in the sectors of responsibility.
Act as Infrastructure Lead at national level and in charge of the delivery of the projects managed by Bucharest Post, under the Europe Central Infrastructure HVC.
Offer Support to the Europe Central Nuclear HVC Lead on the respective sectors of activity (energy, including renewable, oil & gas, smart cities, etc.), at national and regional level; assist in the delivery of the regional activities in the Europe Central Region, comprising of 10 markets: Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Generate and deliver DIT targets: export wins, Overseas Market Introduction Services (payable services) for the British companies, service deliveries etc., according to the activities agreed in the Europe Regional Trade Plan and Country Trade Plan.
Conduct market research: develop knowledge and contacts within the sectors of interest, participate to trade fairs and events, keep abreast of the Romanian economic situation, overall business environment and developments in the sectors of responsibility, draft official letters and reports.
Perform and record administrative duties in time, in a proper manner according to DIT and Post requirements and CRM system in use.
Project management of campaign events and activities, assigning leading responsibilities to other members of the regional team for organising local initiatives and projects, under the Europe Central Infrastructure HVC.
Assisting the Europe Central Nuclear HVC Lead on delivering the regional and national activities and developing successful relationships with companies interested in entering the Romanian and Central European markets.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
A college / university level degree in a relevant area or equivalent experience.
Ability to work in a diverse and cross cultural environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, and fluency in English and Romanian, both verbal and written, with excellent writing and communication skills.
Strong team player.
Good abilities of researching, collecting and processing data and market information.
Attention to detail.
Excellent personal communication and organisational skills.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Experience with Oracle systems and databases preferred.
Strong track record of business development / sales experience required and proven market awareness of the national and regional business environment.
Experience in the Infrastructure or Energy sectors.

Other benefits and conditions of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract of 2 years (35 hours net per week). Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked.
The annual leave entitlement is 25 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Romanian / UK public holidays per year.
Monthly salary is 4,356 RON gross. In addition, staff are entitled to a 13th month salary pro rata and may receive a performance related bonus at year end. Staff also receive meal vouchers and a monthly subscription to a medical centre. An individual personal development plan will be agreed with the successful candidate, which may include training outside Romania.
For your information whilst the Emergency Ordinanceis in place the job holder will receive a gross monthly compensation bonus of RON 871.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance, and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of up to 45 calendar days.
Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Romania and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Additional requirements may become necessary pending EU Exit. If requirements change additional eligibility information will be shared during the recruitment process.
