Senior Java Software Engineer - Timisoara

Responsibilities

In Austria, the central bank – Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) - has worked together with the country's banks to develop a new reporting model. The initiative is aimed to achieve greater harmonization and facilitate state of the art data integration capabilities of the IT systems on both supervisory authority and supervised entity level, respectively. The way it works is through a shared utility called Austrian Reporting Services GmbH (AuRep), a joint venture of the largest Austrian banking groups. AuRep runs a common regulatory reporting platform based on our ABACUS/GMP solution, which serves as a central interface between the supervised banks and the OeNB. ABACUS/GMP is based on our tried-and-tested Abacus platform, which is the result of more than 25 years of regulatory experience.

Your responsibilities are to design and develop ABACUS/GMP by understanding, maintaining and extending our ABACUS/GMP product, which is a highly complex Java application made of several modules such as a GWT based GUI, a complex DB abstraction and numerous business processes described via its custom programming language. You will work in a mixed Romanian-Austrian team where occasional travel to our Austrian headquarters (Wien) is required.

Requirements

• Successfully completed studies in computer science, information technology or similar fields of study;
• Strong Java Core skills, OOP Principles and Design Patterns knowledge;
• Strong Oracle SQL skills (RMDB; In-Memory DB is a plus);
• Technology stack: Java SE, Java EE (EJB, GWT/GXT, SWT, POI, iText, GWT, JsInterop, Infinispan, dom4j, log4j, JUnit, etc.), Git, BitBucket, Maven, Nexus, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Oracle SQL, Wildfly, etc.
• Curiosity for technology and innovative topics;
• Clean Code enthusiast;
• Entrepreneurial attitude, result-driven and team player mindset;
• Mentoring skills;
• Proficient in English; German is a plus
• Experience in banking regulatory reporting (Basel II/III) is a plus;
• Experience with AGILE methodologies is a plus;
• Knowledge of business processes and business experience in a large company is a plus;
• Experience in working in a distributed environment is a plus.
