Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or Bachelor's degree in engineering technology;
- Advanced knowledge of power distribution standard practices;
- Advanced knowledge of Distribution and/or Substation electrical design and operation practices
- Two to five years of power distribution engineering experience;
- Two to five years of experience with SCADA systems, including, but not limited to: RTU's, front-end processors, communications interfaces, and Distribution Management Systems and interfaces;
- Experience with power networks design and equipment (network protectors, vaults/sensors, manholes/sensors, transformers/sensors and RTU enclosers;
- Experience with distribution operations principles, including switching/tagging procedures, overloads conditions, load shed principles, and mis-operations;
- Demonstrate ability with distribution level overcurrent coordination required for interfacing the local protection of recloser controls with the automatic circuit reconfiguration principles of
- Distribution Automation;
- Familiarity with circuit modeling, power flow algorithms, overcurrent protection principles and project management skills;
- Fundamental understanding of common communications languages required for SCADA system interaction;
- Strong written and verbal communication;
- Demonstrate ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary;
- Demonstrate willingness and capabilities to assume leadership roles;
- Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and AutoCAD is required;
- Significant supervision/mentoring/team skills;
- Advanced presentation, written and verbal communication skills;
- The ability to interface effectively with clients, employees, and management team is essential.
Job Requirements:
- Implement SCADA solutions for new and existing substations with various BUS protocols, collected to the communication room, such as motor relays, metering relays, power analyzers, fault functions; configuration of energy consume reports and analyses
- Knowledge of specifying parameters for current and potential transformers;
- Perform Quality Assurance (QA) design reviews for all SCADA, Protection and Control documents
- Ability to apply and design protection schemes for various substation components such as transformers, transmission lines, capacitor banks, and buses;
- Familiarity with communication and SCADA protocols along with AC and DC schematics
- Ability to use various types of microprocessor relays such as Siemens, Schneider, ABB or Eaton
- Apply engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as relay coordination, load flow and short circuit studies;
- Familiar with general protection and controls guidelines including standard practices;
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with project engineer, customer representatives, and others as needed;
- Provide excellent client/customer service;
- Work as a team member and provide support for newly installed equipment. This will include some field assistance and training;
- Provide distribution automation controller logic programming, testing, optimization, and maintenance to provide functionality desired by project team members;
- Coordinate point assignments (create/update RPA's), commissioning, testing, and maintenance of automation and SCADA systems with SCADA engineers and vendors;
- Work with vendors and engage in training to be current on the most effective use of technologies.
