Overview

The Ixia Application and Threat Intelligence (ATI) Research Center is seeking a highly motivated Principal Application Protocol Engineer.  The ideal candidate is energized by the thought of reverse engineering and developing network protocol applications and tools to assist with automatic decoding of proprietary protocols to deliver content for Ixia traffic generators.  Along-side of the protocol development is the chance to integrate your knowledge into application security research, working with industry leading security researchers to enrich Ixia products in the space of cybersecurity.  This position is perfect for a far-sighted, hands-on, actively coding engineer who always wants to be the first to apply cutting edge technologies to solve complex business and engineering problems. The candidate will be a customer and field facing advocate for ATI, he or she must have excellent communication and presentation skills. 

 

What you will be doing here?

  • Writing code every day
  • Keeping yourself and others around you up to speed on emerging technologies
  • Defining and supporting engineering best practices
  • Solving difficult problems on a daily basis, . can you determine encryption technique applied to WhatsApp?
  • Moving the needle with regards to Ixia and evolution of Cloud Enablement
  • Working with Product Management to assist with definition of feature needs
  • Working in a fast and lean agile environment

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in languages such as C/C++, Python and/or Ruby
  • Broad and deep knowledge of IP networking protocols L2 – 7
  • Master of Wireshark and other networking tools
  • MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience (with significant CS coursework)
  • 8+ years of proven success with professional experience engineering network protocols
