Gameloft, a leading publisher of digital games is searching for that special and talented engineer, to take on the responsibility of our core data infrastructure, improve and grow it. We are talking billions of data points, millions of entries and challenges of all kind across multiple programming languages.

The likely hero engineer would ideally work in a standardized Java environment facing challenges and with much to learn from the experience. Knowledge of some RDBMS systems, ACID or CAP systems would be nice. The project consists of developing analytics or core applications that interact with a NoSQL Cassandra and Spark based solution and pushing the boundaries of performance, resilience and knowledge in distributed computing. We do welcome heroes that worked with other NoSQL technologies (Hbase, Mongo, Redis, Riak, Couchbase, Hadoop, Aerospike etc.).

We are are looking for a fellow System Administrator who will work in Agile DevOps environment, maintaining the core testing and production clusters used by our data and developer teams, working with the latest NoSQL technologies and setups, making sure everything stays up and always ready. The ideal candidate is a Sys admin who can also code, or a coder who loves to tackle Linux infrastructure problems from time to time.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with development teams on the core infrastructure needs, standards and deployment scenarios;
  • Collaborate with fellow ranking administrators on setting up the clusters;
  • Debug performance or deployment issues;
  • Help data scientists and other data analytics teams;
  • Maintain the core set of Ansible playbooks required to keep the systems properly configured and always up;
  • Research the impact of kernel settings (network, I/O etc) on application performance;
  • Document technical procedures and policies;
  • Possibility of being part of the on-call (24x7) team;

 

Requirements:

  • Fluent in English;
  • Good background in Linux/Unix Administration (2+ years experience);
  • Experience with automation/configuration management systems (Puppet, Ansible)
  • Knowledge of ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and container technologies such as Docker Engine, Docker Compose
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with GCE/AWS is a plus);
  • Networking knowledge: Routing & Switching, Data Center, Cloud Infrastructure, Security
  • Strong experience with SQL and MySQL (NoSQL experience is a plus);
  • A working understanding of code and script (Bash, Python);
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always available service;
  • Good team player and communication skills;  Fast learner and willing to improve himself/herself daily;
  • Self-motivated, resourceful person;
  • Ability to work independently and to manage priorities;

 

Big pluses:

  • Knowledge of Virtual Machines such as: Vagrant; Xen
  • Knowledge of Container Orchestration: Rancher Compose; Rancher Stack; Docker Swarm
