Mission:

Within the European Purchasing Platform, working in project mode, in an international and multicultural environment, the Lead Buyer is responsible of the sourcing / contracting of Mechanical & Electrical spare parts for Galati HUB.

He/she is mainly in charge of negotiation of frame contracts and prices of Mechanical & Electrical spare parts used in the local (Hub) perimeter. The Lead Buyer is accountable for fulfilling negotiation policy, validation rules and management of related documentation. The Lead Buyer also initiates and supports further value creation within its perimeter of responsibility: proposition of supplier and services switches, TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) initiatives and actions of the suppliers and of the plants.

He/she is expected to drive his purchasing projects from the beginning till its end.

The lead buyer is responsible for the Mechanical & Electrical spare parts procurement process in Galati.

Main accountabilities:

. To establish purchasing strategies and to deploy strategic levers ( Sourcing Strategy)
. To prospect, manage, assess the potential panel of suppliers ( Vendor Assessment)
. To work closely with Lead Users in order to collect and consolidate plant needs (Contract design).
. To work with Lead Users on TCO approach
. To plan, develop and negotiate contracts (Contract Design)
. To negotiate and prepare required validation and contract database documentation
 (Contract Design)
. To deploy contracts and to measure their performance with the support of Lead Users (Contract Deployment)
. To lead the team of buyers and buying support within his/her perimeter.

3 buyers + 2 buying support

Education & experience:

Professional:Engineering or economics/business administration Master Degree or MBA required, Successful multi-year track record in Procurement, CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager), 5 to 10 years experience both in purchasing & in operation.
Technical:  problem-solving and analytical skills, Excellent planning/ project management skills, Strong negotiating skills, Targeted systems knowledge, Extensive knowledge of contracts
Behavioral: Strong leadership skills and presence, Superior communication/ interpersonal skills, Passion for reducing costs, Comfortable with conflict. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external customers as well as fellow team members at all levels.


Fluent in English and additional European languages appreciated.

International Role:

As the perimeter is highly international, this position requests daily communication with foreign interlocutors. Moreover it demands trips to meet users and suppliers in their facilities throughout Europe. Therefore, language skills and cultural sensitivity are needed in order to guarantee the required level of performance expected for this position.
