Job brief

We are seeking a skilled, experienced purchasing manager to join our organization. Our Purchasing Manager will be responsible for sourcing different packaging materials and managing vendors. The successful candidate will be able to create budgets, to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers.

 

Responsibilities

Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies

Identify and source new reliable suppliers and vendors

Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness

Studying the market to identify price trends and future availability of goods

Develop strategies to make sure that cost savings and supplier performance targets are met - or exceeded

Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand

Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality

Interview vendors and visit suppliers' plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services, and prices

Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers

Negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided

Evaluate and monitor contracts to be sure that vendors and supplies comply with the terms and conditions of the contract and to determine need for changes

Keep contract files and use them as reference for the future

Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers

Communicates with executives and gains approval for purchasing contracts with new vendors or on new supplies

Attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences to learn about new industry trends and make contacts with suppliers

 

Skills and Qualifications

Highly Organized

Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills

Strong negotiation skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field

Proven working experience as purchasing manager

Commercial awareness

Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures

Strong analytical ability to adapt to different client needs and to develop and maintain successful working relationships

The ability to make important decisions and cope with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines

SAP software experience can be an advantage
