Job Purpose

 The Database Administrator responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of eServGlobal customers databases and guarantee that database is up and running smoothly 24/7.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 The Database Administrator is responsible with the following activities:

1. Maintaining eServGlobal customers database

-        Monitor Available Disk Space

-        Backup and Restore Data

-        Comfortable Working With Production Servers

-        Debug Database Issues on Live Data

-        Ensure Databases Run Efficiently

-        Install Updates

-        Optimize Queries on Live Data

-        Proactively Tune Database in Production

-        Research Emerging Technology

-        Review Existing Solutions

-        Set Security Permissions for Database

-        Setup Safety Measures to Recover Data

-        Troubleshoot Database Errors

 

2. Work Closely with Development teams with regards to database updates and design

-        Analyse and recommend Database improvements

-        Analyse impact of Database changes to the business

-        Advise on long-term Capacity plans and growth

-        Analyse and recommend Database improvements

-        Configure Database software

-        Ensure data is secure

-        Implement Backup and Recovery Plan

-        Oversee Development of New Databases

-        Quickly Assess a Situation and Develop/Implement a Solution

Qualifications and experience

A bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science, along with advanced education and certifications and three to five years of database administration experience.

Technical Knowledge Mandatory knowledge

  • Proven working experience as a Database administrator
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding
  • Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third party tools
  • Familiarity with programming languages API
  • Oracle database server: grid, ASM, ACFS
