We are looking for a Data Protection Officer for BRD and other Societe Generale’s and BRD’s Romanian based entities.

The position is for a senior person responsible for a support team, capable to handle relationships with the top management, as well as with regulators and with any data subjects such as clients and employees. Ability to foster a data protection culture is vital.

Level of expertise should be commensurate with the complexity of a large organization like BRD Group. The key factors to consider are previous experience on handling large amounts of sensitive data, complex processing and the international transfers of personal data. 

Strong communication and negotiation skills, analytical skills, meticulous and accurate, ability to work collaboratively across different business lines, ability to deal with confidential / sensitive issues /information and ability to balance priorities are required.

Personal integrity, high professional ethics, reliable and trustworthy, strong team player, ability to lead and manage a team, ability to work independently and ability to remain calm, controlled and resilient.



The Data Protection Officer shall have at least the following tasks:


(I)  Informing and advising BRD’s Entities on data privacy compliance matters across applications, systems, processes, products and services.

(II) Informing and advising BRD’s Entities’ employees who carry out-processing of their obligations pursuant to GDPR.

(III) Monitoring compliance with GDPR and with the policies of BRD’s Entities in relation to the protection of personal data, including the assignment of responsibilities, awareness-raising and training of staff involved in processing operations, and the related audits;

(IV)  Providing advice as regards the data protection impact assessment and monitor its performance;

(V)  Cooperating with ANSPDCP and acting as the contact point for the ANSPDCP on issues relating to processing, including the prior consultation before initiating a processing where a data protection impact assessment indicates that the processing would result in a high risk in the absence of measures taken by BRD’s Entities to mitigate the risk, and to consult, where appropriate, with regard to any other matter.   


Data Protection Officer will be based in BRD’s headquarters.

Professional Expertise

  • Expertise in national and EU data protection regulations and an in-depth understanding of the GDPR.
  • Experience in compliance functions (data privacy or other) is an advantage.
  • Banking experience is not required, although some experience would be beneficial.
  • Experience in a similar type of role in a multinational business is an advantage.
  • Experience in managing data incidents, breaches or ANSPDCP’s controls is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English.
