What will you contribute?

You will be responsible for the production and delivery of competitive intelligence to the Finastra global Sales, Product Management and Marketing organisations. You will feed Finastra product roadmaps, help Marketing with sales collateral, and Sales in the structuring of go-to-market strategies and in the elaboration of specific, ad-hoc responses or sales engagements on individual accounts. To achieve this, you will design comprehensive strategies against all major Finastra competitors across all our product lines, produce effective competitive battle cards and keep “a finger on the pulse” of the market by understanding deal-flow, analyst reports and other market intelligence.

Responsibilities & Deliverables:

Your core responsibilities as a Competitive Intelligence Analyst will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Study established and upcoming competitors of Finastra in retail banking, corporate banking, payments, treasury, capital markets, risk management and others
  • Benchmark competitor offerings against Finastra solutions to determine strengths and weaknesses
  • Produce, publish and promote competitive battle cards to help improve our external market positioning and win rates
  • Analyse large volumes of data coming from different sources such as technical documentation, WinLoss analysis, conversations with experts, analyst reports, etc.
  • Interview people knowledgeable on our competitors within Finastra (. sales and pre-sales personnel) and outside of the organization (. analysts, customers, partners) to gain competitive insight
  • Develop and promote the Finastra Competitive Intelligence practice going forward – both internally (within Sales, Solutions, Product Management and Marketing organizations) and externally (to industry analysts and our community of partners)
  • Work with a wider Product Strategy team on Win Loss and Customer Insight analysis to design Finastra product and sales strategy recommendations

You will report to the Competitive Intelligence Manager.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in competitive intelligence or in-depth vendor/product comparison in  technology (ideally in financial software or enterprise software)
  • Solid understanding of the financial services industry with experience in at least one line of business (retail banking, corporate banking, capital markets or payments)
  • Ability to establish a wide network of contacts and to collect intelligence on regular and ad-hoc basis through phone interviews and face-to-face meetings
  • Highly analytical: consume large amounts of information, pay attention to details but focus on the most important, verify conflicting statements, make small decisions quickly, build comprehensive stories from small pieces, develop strategic implications
  • Entrepreneurial and self-sufficient: work with no micro-management constantly delivering high-quality results and driving own agenda
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in order to be efficient in a multi-national and multi-cultural organization
