What does working as Software Engineer entail?
Software Engineers work in the development team, which builds our antivirus products and support applications for the most widespread platform to date – desktop Windows OS. As a developer, you will be in charge of ensuring that the detection core can perform all its functions, which means that you will provide it with the necessary data, settings, look after filtering of network communication, prepare plugins, and work on the user interface and supplementary applications. The unit of which you will be a part is also involved in developing functionalities that are not directly related to malware detection.
This type of work is ideal for programmers who like to dabble in Kernels, revel in crash dumps, but also all those who just love to analyze, debug and program business logic. This is something that will be right up your alley if you like working with network protocols, enjoy making the GUI user-friendly or look forward to working with JSON, XML and other scripts.
The tools and technologies used on the job:
A developer in this position will almost certainly come into contact with a battery of tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, WinDbg, VirtualKD, Dependency Walker, ProcMon, Process Explorer, Wireshark and WinMerge. What’s more, some members of the Windows application team use VirtualBox, VMware or write code in Windows API, C++, Perl, Python, Java Scripts or HTML − but it’s up to you: we will be happy to provide you with all the additional tools you may want. We are really big on effectiveness in everything we do, that’s why we actively use system tools such as Git, Jira, Confluence or PuTTY.
You can look forward to working on big projects which benefit tens of millions of users, and do so with a team of experts, from whom you can learn a thing or two about hacking and operating systems, drivers, or system diagnosis.
Are you cut out for the job?
You will feel right at home if C++ programming is your cup of tea. If you also have experience with real-world projects, can solve hard problems and know your way around OS Internals we would like to welcome you to our team.
