Service Charge Accountant (Property Management)

The Role

This role offers the chance to take end-to-end responsibility for a London-based portfolio within a high-performing property management business.

As Portfolio Accountant, you will oversee the delivery of accurate, compliant and meaningful financial information across several developments. Partnering closely with operational teams, you will help ensure strong financial governance, support informed decision-making and consistently uphold best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume full responsibility for the financial management of your portfolio, ensuring all records are accurate, compliant and completed to deadline.
  • Develop effective working relationships with property managers and auditors, becoming a reliable and trusted source of financial expertise.
  • Proactively identify potential issues, resolve variances efficiently and contribute to ongoing improvements in processes and reporting.
  • Organise and prioritise your workload independently, maintaining consistently high standards.

  • Financial information is well-maintained, accurate and ready for audit.
  • Year-end accounts are completed on time with few audit queries.
  • Service charge accounts and cash flow are effectively controlled.
  • Stakeholders receive clear, dependable and well-understood reporting.
  • Issues are anticipated early and addressed promptly.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • Preparing and reviewing year-end statutory accounts.
  • Managing service charge accounting and monitoring cash flow.
  • Producing profit and loss accounts and balance sheets.
  • Carrying out variance analysis and financial performance reviews.
  • Liaising with external auditors throughout the audit process.
  • Ensuring adherence to statutory, regulatory and best-practice requirements.
  • Working with accounting systems such as Propman and Microsoft Excel.

About You

  • Fluent English
  • Solid accounting experience, ideally within property management or service charge accounting.
  • University Accounting Degree or Qualified or studying towards ACCA
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and confident handling multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable communicating clearly and professionally with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Someone who takes ownership, values accuracy and is committed to delivering quality work.

Experience That Will Support Your Success

  • Background in residential property management or service charge accounting.
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts and supporting audit processes.
  • Familiarity with Qube MRI software but not essential
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel.
