Senior Backend & Automation Integration Engineer

About the Role

This role will focus on building our next-generation integration and automation platform connecting tax authorities, government systems and partner services across multiple jurisdictions.

You will design robust integrations, workflow automation services and submission platforms that become a key differentiator for our business.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services supporting tax authority integrations.
• Build secure APIs and integration frameworks.
• Develop browser automation and submission workflows where APIs are unavailable.
• Implement workflow orchestration, retries, error handling and status monitoring.
• Create reusable connector frameworks for multiple countries and authorities.
• Design secure credential management and audit logging.
• Integrate AI and document processing services into operational workflows.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Operations teams.

Required Skills

• 5+ years backend software development experience.
• Strong Python & PHP experience and exposure to NodeJS/TypeScript.
• API design and integration experience.
• MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of retries, idempotency and fault-tolerant processing.
• Experience with queue-based architectures.
• Docker and cloud deployment experience.
• Strong English communication skills.

Desirable Skills

• Playwright, Selenium or RPA tools.
• Experience integrating with third-party, government, financial or ERP systems.
• AWS cloud services.
• Tax, finance, payments or compliance platforms.
• Event-driven systems and workflow orchestration platforms.
• Security and authentication protocols.
