Your Roles and Responsibilities

A.) Leadership function (70%)

  • Leadership and support of Project Buyers in the MAHLE Tech. Center Timisoara and elsewhere in Europe
  •  Elaborate/support joint alignments/solutions with all needed interface functions in general (procedures) and while escalation (project hurdles)
  • Policy & process deployment acc. definitions by European head of PB
  • Nomination of PB’s to new projects according to capacities in alignment with all European groups of PB (PB = project buyer) Cooperation with SQE-Development and Lead/Commodity Purchasing Europe to improve the processes continuously
  • Regular reporting to & closed cooperation with HEAD of PB Europe (incl. reporting of projects within the assigned PB Team)

(B.) Expert function (30%)

  • Active contribution in new projects for purchase parts according Purchasing & R&D procedures (incl. APQP coordination) in order to support (a.) Customer project acquisition, (b.) development phase as well as (c.) launch & hand-over after SOP
  • As core team member in customer development projects, being in an extended sub-project manager role & responsibility
  • Planning and assuring sourcing events of the team according the MAHLE Sourcing Decision Procedures (based on the principle: safety-quality-delivery-costs)
  • Assessment and cross-check of suppliers quotes and concepts, leading communication, tech reviews and negotiations, supplier visits/meetings (including domestic and international travel as required)
  • Active contribution in development teams to elaborate/develop supplier selections strategies (team work with all beneficial functions in the related Tech Centers, plants corporate departments)
  • In global projects, taking over the lead over several PB’s out of the related regions (Asia, North America, Brazil)
  • Collaboration in projects and documentation & presentation of results

Your Skills and Strengths

  • Engineering, Commercial degree or equivalent, at least 6 – 8 years professional experience in Automotive Purchasing, thereof minimum 3 years as team leader
  • Knowledge of automotive development & project management procedures as well as quality requirements
  • Leadership capability (able to lead and drive, motivate, back & support, develop & coach)
  • Technical, material, manufacturing and process knowledge
  • Commercial knowledge incl. cost breakdown analyses, overhead/hourly rate calculation, legal contract content, logistics
  • Strong negotiation expertise
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively and efficiently in different cultures
  • Fluent in English (strong communication skills both verbal and written) and preferably also in another foreign languag
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of IT- Tools (MS Office & SAP R3)
