Network Engineer

 

As part of the Enterprise Network Services team within Oracle’s Global Information Technology organization, you will be responsible for the delivery of IT services to Oracle’s businesses worldwide, these services include the management and support of the internal global network infrastructure.

 

Technical Requirements:

Responsibilities include the proactive and reactive support of the Oracle internal Majority of support focuses on Cisco routing & switching, Wireless Infrastructure, WAN Management and MPLS/BGP Enabled networks; strong background in these areas is requiredther areas of support include but are not limited to Riverbed WAN Accelerators, Cisco Prime WLAN Controllers and APs, Juniper Border and Transit routers, point to point WAN circuits, Routing protocols like OSPF and BGP, Switching technologies, Nexus Switches and New Generation Cisco ASR RouterKnowledge in these areas are recommendedGood understanding of Switching & Routing protocols (Vlan, STP, OSPF, BGP, MPLSExperience with network monitoring tools such as: SNMP, MRTG & HPOV, etc.

 

Department Requirements:

Record creation and maintenance of equipment failure and liaise with engineers and suppliers as necessary. Escalate client problems according to established procedures. Manage the network using network management tools, analyze network performance and discuss network enhancements with senior networking specialists. Analyze network performance to ensure adequate bandwidth for business needs. Recommend enhancements to the network infrastructure and enhance proactive network management tool set. Troubleshoot network problems on the global network through to resolution, occasionally with guidance from more experienced staff, depending on complexity. Respond to monitor alarms to identify the root cause of an outage and coordinate the corrective action in line with existing procedures and practices. Provide on-call support services as needed.

Mid-level position:  Completes own role largely independently within defined policies and procedures. Three to five years relevant Cisco/Juniper certification (Associate or Professional level) a plus.

 

Senior-level position:  Job duties are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. Ability to own and complete tasks with minimal help. May have project lead role. Five or more years relevant work experience. Candidates with Cisco/Juniper certification (Professional level + in routing and switching or wireless) will be preferred.
