The successful candidate will be expected to handle a wide variety of commercial sales contract negotiations for transactions taking place around the world, provide sound legal and business advice to both business and legal management team(s), and be able to take the technical deep dives required to understand the implications of the transactions in negotiation. The role will include handling, prioritizing, and following through on numerous projects simultaneously, and will report to the lead counsel for Global Commercial Advice and Support based in Cambridge, MA. About the Team Akamai Legal is a highly-experienced global team of lawyers and other legal professionals dedicated to helping drive Akamai's next phase of growth. The Legal team currently consists of over forty professionals located in the ., Germany, Poland, the UK, Singapore, China and Japan. **Responsibilities:** - Prepare, review, comment on and negotiate complex contracts with Akamai's global customers. - Act as a key point of contact for German-language contracts. - Advise on legal and regulatory risk associated with sales, data privacy, and service offering. - Assure conformity and consistency in application of Akamai legal and business policies and practices. - Participate in efforts to enhance the legal department's overall performance. - Handle other tasks that arise from time to time and require the attention of an Akamai attorney. **Qualifications:** Basic Qualifications - Fully qualified lawyer. - Strong contract negotiation skills in English and German. - Minimum of 8 years of legal support or similar experience in private practice or in-house. - Experience in technology sectors. Desired Qualifications - Excellent analytical, negotiation and contract drafting skills in a variety of technology / licensing agreements including software and managed services models. - Strong working knowledge of European commercial contract law, competition law, software licensing, privacy and data protection and intellectual property rights. - Astute commercial awareness, robust time and project management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Solid experience in the telecommunications, Internet or IT field, ideally with a mix of law firm training and/or substantial in-house experience. - Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a clear and concise drafting style. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. - Ability to work independently, to multi-task and provide follow-through on projects. - Team player. - Flexibility to work with colleagues and internal clients located in diverse regions of the world. - Enjoy working for a very fast paced team. - Good sense of humor.
