As Release and Environments Manager you will have end to end responsibility for the safe delivery of Demo releases into Production. You will manage the release of environments across all the Oracle Applications and Technology stack to global Sales Engineering teams who will use these environments to deliver demos to customers.
Activities will include:
·Working with the Demo Engineering teams and Project Managers to understand the contents and the functional and technical inter-dependencies for all new releases to be deployed.
·Advise Demo Engineering and Project Managers on Release Governance processes and requirements that need to be met at each Governance gate
·Determining the number of environments required to support global Oracle Sales Engineering teams. Work with Sales leaders to allocate environments depending on their demo needs.
·Developing and delivering a plan (in conjunction with colleagues in Release Management and relevant infrastructure teams) to provision these environments in line with project plans
·Ensure complete and accurate deployment plans are in place and are adequately reviewed and tested in the environments prior to delivery into Production
·Secure and coordinate the activities of all resources required to support the deployment to Production environments
·Ensure appropriate processes are in place for Support Engineering to support the environments post production.
·Your success will depend heavily on building excellent relationships both within the release management team and with multiple other teams including Sales.
Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:
·Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Release Management processes and tools – the schedule, the governance gates and requirements and advise Demo Engineering, Support Engineering and Project Managers on alignment and adherence.
·Drives delivery best practise with a focus on production quality and readiness
Release Portfolio Management:
·Work with your assigned Demo Engineering and Project Managers delivering both Application and Technology releases of Oracle Products and develop an overall plan for each release to ensure that Sales teams are successful in their demos.
·Understand the detailed functional and technical aspects of the deliveries as well inter-dependencies and integration points between releases and environments.
·Determine the number of production environments required to support global Sales Engineering teams.
·Develop and deliver a plan (in conjunction with colleagues in Release Management and relevant Demo Engineering teams) to provision these environments as well as refreshing them after each demo.
·Ensure production environments are allocated to owners in Sales Engineering, monitor usage and re-align allocation ensuring best use of hardware capacity
·Ensure there is a plan for refreshes and upgrades, checking with environment owners to establish downtime and working with Technical teams to ensure that planned work is delivered on time with minimal disruption.
Release Delivery Management:
·Ensure that the release milestones are fully communicated, understood and adhered to by the Support team.
·Ensure the scope of each release is understood and agreed by all programme stakeholders and that it’s impact is communicated to the wider release team where the delivery is part of a wider release.
·Work with Technical team to ensure appropriate build and deployment tool sets are utilised and developed to support automated assignment of environments.
Qualifications / Skills:
·University degree in either Engineering, Maths, Economics, Computer Science or comparable
·English Advanced proficiency and fluency (including writing) are mandatory
·Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
