Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Planner / Project Controls Engineer to support the delivery of complex industrial, manufacturing, logistics and process projects across Romania and international locations. Embedded within multidisciplinary project teams, the role focuses on integrated planning, scheduling, cost control, progress measurement and risk analysis throughout the full project lifecycle.

This position requires strong technical planning expertise, hands on experience with large scale project schedules and close collaboration with project management, engineering, procurement, construction and cost control teams.

Job Description

• Develop, maintain and control integrated project schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning in line with contractual and internal requirements.

• Define work breakdown structures, activity logic, critical paths, milestones and sequencing aligned with project execution strategies.

• Prepare baseline schedules, manage revisions and assess schedule impacts resulting from scope changes, delays or variations.

• Analyze schedule performance, float consumption, critical path changes and recovery scenarios.

• Support the setup and control of project budgets, cost breakdown structures and cost loaded schedules where required.

• Monitor planned versus actual costs, forecasts and cash flow in coordination with project management and cost control functions.

• Contribute to earned value analysis and performance reporting, including schedule and cost performance indicators where applicable.

• Assess schedule and cost impacts of changes, variations and claims as part of change management processes.

• Define and apply progress measurement methodologies for engineering, procurement and construction activities.

• Collect, validate and consolidate progress data from project disciplines, contractors and vendors.

• Prepare weekly and monthly reports, dashboards, S-curves, look ahead plans and management summaries.

• Support project risk workshops, maintain schedule related risk registers and perform what if and delay impact analyses.

• Identify key interfaces between disciplines, suppliers and contractors and reflect them accurately within the project schedule.

• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering Leads, Procurement, Site Managers and Cost Controllers to ensure alignment.

• Participate in internal and external planning meetings, contractor coordination meetings and progress reviews.

• Provide planning and project controls input during tendering, budgeting and execution phases.

• Utilize MS Project as the primary planning tool, with Primavera P6 knowledge considered an advantage

• Apply advanced Excel skills for analysis, reporting and data consolidation, with familiarity in project reporting and cost control systems considered a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related technical discipline.

• Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience as a Project Planner or Project Controls Engineer on industrial or large scale projects.

• Proven experience working within EPC or EPCM project environments.

• Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling logic, sequencing and contractual milestones.

• Ability to manage planning data and collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholders in complex project settings.

• Fluent English, both written and spoken, with additional languages considered an advantage.

• Willingness to work on project based assignments with relocation across Romania and internationally as required.

• Openness to permanent employment or freelance, contract based collaboration.

• Ability to work effectively within multinational project teams and adapt to different project environments.
