Part Time: 80% Fixed term until 30 March 2018 The Lapworth Museum of Geology has collections of pre-eminent national and international importance, evidenced by the award of Designated Status (Arts Council England). The museum contains the largest and finest geological collection in the West Midlands Region, and is one of the most important geological centres outside of the national museums. The Lapworth is the principal resource for the subject area available to educational institutions within the Midlands region, including schools, colleges, universities and the adult education sector. The Lapworth is an integral part of the University's School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (GEES) and provides considerable support for teaching and research within the School. The Lapworth is looking to appoint a suitably qualified Development & Sustainability Officer to review and develop the Lapworth Museum's processes and procedures to ensure the Museum's future resilience and sustainability. In particular, to review the museum's current and future models for revenue generation, fund raising, effective marketing, volunteer management and environmental sustainability. This will include data gathering within the Lapworth Museum, the museum and heritage sectors, and the production of models, toolkits, workshops and best practice to disseminate project data and good practice within the wider museum/heritage sector. Applicants will need a relevant qualification at degree/further degree level in a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification, and/or significant experience in a related discipline.
