Head of Primary/Primary Coordinator – Cambridge Programme

1. Role Purpose

The Head of Primary / Primary Coordinator for the Cambridge Programme is responsible for the academic, pedagogical and operational coordination of the Cambridge Primary Programme, ensuring high-quality implementation of the Cambridge curriculum, compliance with Cambridge International standards, and alignment with the vision and values of OGIS.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Academic Leadership and Curriculum

  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of the Cambridge Primary curriculum across all primary year groups.
  • Ensure curriculum planning, schemes of work and assessments are fully aligned with Cambridge standards.
  • Monitor pupil progress and use assessment data to inform teaching and learning improvement.
  • Work closely with the Academic Director to support the strategic development of the Cambridge Primary Programme.

B. Teaching Staff Coordination and Development

  • Coordinate and support primary teachers delivering the Cambridge curriculum.
  • Provide mentoring, professional guidance and constructive feedback to teaching staff.
  • Contribute to staff performance evaluation processes related to the Cambridge Primary Programme.
  • Identify professional development needs and recommend appropriate Cambridge training opportunitie. 

C. Assessment and Standardisation

  • Ensure consistent application of Cambridge assessment criteria.
  • Coordinate internal moderation and standardisation processes.
  • Oversee the effective use of Cambridge-approved resources, platforms and assessment tools.

D. Parent Communication and Representation

  • Act as a key representative of the Cambridge Primary Programme in communication with parents.
  • Participate in parent meetings, academic presentations and school events.
  • Ensure clear, consistent communication regarding pupil progress and curriculum expectations.

E. Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure full compliance with Cambridge International Education requirements.
  • Support school preparation for Cambridge visits, audits and reviews.
  • Monitor adherence to academic policies, safeguarding procedures and school regulations.

3. Professional Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in Education or a related field.
  • Proven experience in Primary Education, preferably within a Cambridge or international curriculum.
  • Previous experience in an academic leadership or coordination role (strong advantage).
  • Cambridge professional development certification (or willingness to undertake required training).

Key Skills

  • Strong knowledge of the Cambridge Primary Programme.
  • Effective leadership, organisational and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (advanced/proficient level).
  • Ability to support and motivate teaching teams.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
